Here's a little bit of a highlight reel from my "Level One Scavenge" streams. During this series we were informed how extremely broken the sleep status has become in the remake.

In the original game ANY damage source had a 50% chance of waking up the target. So if you put someone asleep, you could put them out of commission for 5 whole turns as long as you didn't touch them. This was already considered pretty good since it was the only status that could last 5 turns base.

    4 years old, I played Halo CE. Elites scared the crap out of me. It took me several different attempts to work up the courage to fight them. Then I got to The Flood, and after that introduction cutscene, saw them bust down metals door to get me.....

    The remake kept an oddly specific feature where when the Yoshi Kid uses Gulp on a pokey, he has a 50% chance of swallowing it instead of spitting it out like normal but only if the pokey is just a head.

    I only ever played the remake, but I saw on a chart that Rawk Hawk was most susceptible to shrink on GCN. I knew something must have changed when I couldn't shrink him after several tries, but sleep stomp stun locked him for the whole fight.

    As I've already said multiple times at this point, I refuse to cheese things with Sleep, or really any immobilizing status for that matter. It's just boring and braindead. Also, I really don't think this buff is as massive as people say, particularly outside of pit runs. In the original, sure you couldn't just safely attack sleeping foes, but 5 turns is still absurd. You could still just spend 5 turns charging, then immediately defeat them as soon as they wake up, and it would more or less have the same effect that it has now. Like, it is a buff obviously, but it's definitely not gonna make Sleepy Stomp an S Tier badge in my eyes.

    basically the sleep status in ttyd remake's is exactly like paper mario 64's, where mario or the enemy could get stunlocked forever, which's really surprising. you'd think they'd keep the unique chance of waking up like da original, but at least you can still wake up if a stage hazard hits, which's the main difference for the remake's paper mario 64 sleep status now.🤔 Sleep deff absolutely busted in the remake for this reason alone for how many enemies it works on, just being able to put enemies to sleep for longer than 5 turns, especially the Shadow Queen's 1st phase of all things, is legit insane-

    the wakeup chance needed to be proportionate to the damage dealt. This was *attempted* with making charged attacks break sleep, but... that doesn't matter much if you mix sleepy and danger strats.

    I'm so glad you guys found out. You guys were sleeping on sleep stomp. It was the first badge I tried when I realized enemies weren't waking up after hitting enemies with the sleepy sheep. It was really nice to take out an amayzee dayzee early into chapter 4.

    I think the first time I saw how comically broken Sleep strats are was from Miss Fushi, who managed to stunlock Macho Grubba. I thought it was a reference to the fact that Grubba is a Clubba in everything but name, only it turned out to be just as useful on other bosses, to the point that she ended up shelving it because even though it was funny it wasn't really engaging

    Although I generally approve of removing RNG from games, sleep absolutely should've gotten a nerf to compensate for these changes. Being able to completely put an enemy out of the battle for 5 turns is way too overpowered I would have made it only last for 2 turns, since sleep is much easier to get than time out (even though they do pretty much the same thing now)

      In the context of challenge runs. You think of a challenge like no jumping, no partners, no items, or similar, but then you superguard most attacks to deal damage and keep your health high

    Basically they ruined the whole unique mechanic of sleep lol. My least favourite thing about the remake was all the changes made to battles. The OG is way better for battle gameplay.

Anyways some examples of changes I dislike and or think are worse than the OG 1) 30fps of course is unfortunate but not a game breaker 2) Certain enemy attacks were made easier to avoid which as a veteran I find lame. The game was easy enough already. 3) The battle waits until the star power bar finishes loading which just slows down battles unnecessarily 4) The changes made to the sleep status 5) There's sometimes some lag while manoeuvring in the menus. Which can lead to missclicks 6) The stage hazard mechanics being more bias towards enemies is lame. I liked it when it felt more 50/50. Sometimes in the remake it feels like the RNG of the stage is literally handing the win to you. 7) The change made to the audience hazard is horrible. It mind as well be automatic. There's no challenge to it anymore. Before you had to be aware and look for the item. Now it kicks you from your menus which is invasive...and directly shows you exactly where the hazard is...whats the point at that point? 8) The Bingo is too slow now 9) the audience feels much less alive in the remake as they lost all their vocal sounds. Screaming extra cheering booing etc. There's some other nitpicks I have but that's what I can think of right now

      @@slenderfoxx3797 I don't think enemy attacks were made easier, it's just there's now a visible window of guarding, and some attacks are better telegraphed, like Dayzee singing. Only specific instances does the game wait for star power to fill, like after first strikes and before enemy attacks, the latter of which is an improvement because doing stylishes in the original would sometimes cause the audience to jump up right when enemies attack. Stage hazards happening to mostly enemies is one thing, but random falling obstacles on the player is an improvement because in the original they're barely telegraphed aside from maybe a half second delay to the next turn. Bingoes still require precise timing like everything else, and will take some practice. It's a specific time where the A button prompt is pressed, not all of it. They also fixed a few small issues like Veil stylishes give star power, partner badges aren't disabled even when equipped when refighting Doopliss, and the audience doesn't get mad just because you used Love Slap and Kiss Thief. So yes, largely subjective, especially when you're just spinning certain differences to look bad just because they're not the original.

    Damn, what a glowup. First, Sleep was the least effective "Stop Action" status effect, pretty easily outclassed by Time Out's +1 Turn and Clock Out working more frequently on top of enemies waking up upon being hit Then it got nerfed even harder in Sticker Star by healing enemies by 1% Max HP each turn, as well as only lasting 1 turn for bosses (Although every Stop Action status was affected too) But now they removed the wake up mechanic and made Sleep items last absurdly long, it's surprising to me they let this combination of buffs slide

      Sleep and Immobilize are pretty much the same in the remake, except Sleep is generally applied for longer so it’s usually better. Now you can just do the first ten floors of the pit early on and make every boss a cakewalk.
